Tuesday, February 28, 2017 marks the release date of Guerrilla Games highly anticipated third-person open world action role-playing game Horizon Zero Dawn. The post apocalyptic world has been reclaimed by nature. Pockets of hunter-gatherer tribes inhabit the ruins of a civilization long forgotten. And fearsome mechanical creatures, The Machines, have taken over the tribes dominion. The unknown awaits us as we venture out as Aloy, a hunter and archer.
In Horizon Zero Dawn you’ll play as Aloy, a young hunter who sets out to discover her purpose and unlock the remnants of an ancient past. The open world of Horizon Zero Dawn will have you hunt the Machines, defend against rival clans and survive the harsh wilds.
The world of Horizon Zero Dawn looks to promise everything our real world offers but more. There will be a variety of Ecotopes ranging from the cold mountain to hot dense jungles. Horizon Zero Dawn also promises dynamic weather as the patterns could change from bright sunny days to epic rain storms. I’m sure that as we play and the weather changes we’ll have to adjust our strategies against the Machines.
As of the time of this Blog only four machine types are know: Thunderjaw, Snapmaw, Stormbird and Behemoth. I’m sure more machine types are awaiting us when Horizon Zero Dawn releases on February 28, 2017. Each Machine will offer its own challenge but Aloy will be ready and waiting with her arsenal of weapons.
In Horizon Zero Dawn Aloy will use her Hunter Bow, Sling and Ropecaster to take down her many enemies. Each weapon will be able to be modified making them and your stronger as your progress through the game. With the release of Horizon Zero Dawn only three days away I’m loosing more and more sleep at the excitement of playing. I also can’t help but think that Aloy would make a perfect addition to a future Playstation All-Stars game, should one be made. I can only hope. Until then, I’ll continue to look towards the future.
