Olli Olli: Epic Combo Edition, Review

On October 25, 2016 the development studio Roll7 released Olli Olli Epic Combo Edition with the help of publisher and distributor Badland Games. Olli Ollie Epic Combo Edition includes everything you could ever ask for from this developer and this series. For the fairly reasonable price of $26.99 you get access to the following:

Olli Olli Epic Combo Edition is a non-stop string of skate boarding combos. It harkens back to the early days of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, chain combos together and have fun doing it. Each level gives you 5 challenges to complete. Completing all 5 challenges unlocks the Pro version of said level. If you’re like me, you’ll spend hours working on one level until you have your string of combos just right and just the way you like them. And for the Alpha Male in all of us Olli Olli Epic Combo Edition offers us “The Daily Grind”. “The Daily Grind” is a challenge that pushes you to your limit. You get to compete against the World for the highest score. As the window in the game reads, “Highest Score each day wins! Practice as many times as you like but you only get one chance to set a Score, so don’t choke!”

Olli Olli Epic Combo Edition is beautifully designed with its minimalistic approach to graphics. This approach allows you to focus on nailing your combos and focusing on perfecting your landings and grinds. Personally, the true hero of Olli Olli Epic Combo Edition is the soundtrack. The soundtrack brings you in and keeps you there. I’ve found myself turning on the game for the sole purpose of listening to the music.

Olli Olli Epic Combo Edition is a great game with two options to choose from. I prefer Olli Olli over Olli Olli 2 simply because the pixellated skater just feels at home for me. If you’re interested in playing the game, or one of them, Olli Olli is $12.99 on the PS Store and Olli Olli 2 is or was FREE to play with your PS Plus membership. I can’t say for certain is Olli Olli 2 is still free as I’ve already downloaded it and it’s in my library as a “download” option. Either way Olli Olli Epic Combo Edition is worth checking out. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I have. Olli Olli put the fun back in “the daily grind.”
